On Tuesday, BJ McLeod Motorsports officially announced the addition of 22-year old Mason Massey to their 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series program. Massey will run a part-time schedule in the team’s No. 99 entry beginning with the event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in February.

Massey, who made seven starts in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Series in 2019, has an impressive pedigree in the Late Model ranks. He will look to take the next step in his journey up NASCAR’s ladder this season.

“I can’t really put into words what an opportunity like this means to me,” said Massey. “I grew up racing and dreaming of racing in NASCAR. I raced with many guys over the years who are now in NASCAR, and I definitely felt like I belonged there too.”

According to team owner BJ McLeod, Massey is the true definition of a racer.

“Mason is a true racer and a very talented driver,” said McLeod in a team press release. “One look at some of the cars, tracks and races he has competed in and you know he has the ability to be successful at this level. I am excited to add him to our driver lineup in 2020. He is a great addition to the team and we’re going to have a lot of fun.”

All three of BJMM’s cars (the No. 5, No. 78 and No. 99) will run full-time in 2020. Matt Mills will be in the No. 5, Vinnie Miller in the No. 78 and Massey will run the majority of the events in the No. 99, while others will help fill the schedule.

Sponsorship announcements for the team will be coming at a later date.
