Jeremy Clements, who is in the thick of the battle for a berth in the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, will have a unique “throwback” scheme for Darlington’s throwback weekend.

Clements will honor the former NASCAR champions from his home state of South Carolina, as their photos will be all along both sides of the car.

Included will be: Buck Baker (Cup champion, 1957, ’58), David Pearson (Cup champion, 1966, ’68, ’69), Cale Yarborough (Cup champion, 1976, ’77, ’78), Sam Ard (Xfinity champion, 1983, ’84) and Larry Pearson (Xfinity champion, 1986, ’87).

Clements says the decision to run a South Carolina champion car was an idea with the driving force of giving the fans something different.

“This is a pretty cool scheme we have this year and a little something different for the Fans,” Clements said in a team release. “Although I didn’t get to see any of these guys race in their heyday, there are some real Legends of our sport riding our car for throwback weekend and I’m so honored to represent them.”

In addition to the legendary names from NASCAR past that will ride on the car, Clements will also carry the names of fans on the deck-lid of the No. 51 machine. If you’d like to get your name on Clements’ car, visit his team’s website.

Clements, 35, is coming off of a sixth-place finish this past weekend at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course. With four races remaining until the Playoffs, Clements sits 13th in the championship standings, just 28 points behind Brandon Brown for the final Playoff berth.
