Mike Harmon Racing announced Friday that Jade Buford will drive the team’s No. 74 entry for the remainder of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. Buford’s first race with the team will be the May 25 event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the 12th for the series on the season.

If Buford successfully qualifies for the race, it will mark his first series start since Talladega last season and the first for Mike Harmon Racing on the season.

“We are pleased to have Buford in the No. 74 Chevrolet Camaro during the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Charlotte and throughout the season”, team owner Mike Harmon said in a press release. “Buford brings lots of experience on the oval and road courses and will be a great strength for us”.

MHR has attempted two races this season, one each with Stanton Barrett and Ryan Vargas, but both attempts resulted in DNQs. The team did, however, partner with Jordan Anderson Racing for multiple races to run their car using Anderson’s No. 32 owner points.

“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the No. 74 at Charlotte with Mike Harmon Racing!” Buford said. “I’m greatly looking forward to kicking off the start of our friendship on the right foot and begin building towards a successful future”.

In 47 career Xfinity Series starts, Buford has a best finish of eighth, which he accomplished on two separate occasions. The 36 year-old Texas native transitioned from touring cars to stock cars in 2020, running the four Xfinity Series road course events before going full-time in the series in 2021.
