In late November, AM Racing announced that Sigma Performance Services had acquired the organization’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series organization ahead of the 2026 season. However, a couple of months later, it appears that the deal has fallen through. On Friday, AM Racing issued a statement on its social media channels claiming that the acquisition transaction was never finalized by Sigma Performance Services.

As a result, AM Racing intends to move forward with its organization in 2026 and will field an entry in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

“In November of 2025, an acquisition of AM Racing was announced. While the transaction ultimately was not finalized, AM Racing will move forward independently and remain committed to competition in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series,” the statement from the team read.

AM Racing will make driver and partnership announcements in the near future. With Daytona a few weeks away, this is a bombshell development in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series garage.

In the initial acquisition announcement, Sigma Performance Services, which has competed in the ARCA Menards Series over the last few seasons, had committed to expanding its racing portfolio to the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Late Models in addition to the ARCA Menards Series. With this latest development, questions arise about the future of SPS’s future in any of the divisions that it had originally planned to compete in during the 2026 season.

The AM Racing team didn’t include any additional details other than the statement. At this time, it is unclear how many cars the AM Racing team will field during the 2026 campaign or whether it will be a full-time entry at this point.

AM Racing, which has served as a team in the NASCAR National Series since making its debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Scott Wimmer in 2009, has made 99 starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series since moving to the series with Brett Moffitt in 2023.

Despite some bumps in the road over the organization’s first couple of seasons in the series, AM Racing made the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Playoffs a season ago with Harrison Burton driving its No. 25 Ford Mustang Dark Horse full-time. The team has three top-five finishes and 21 top-10s over its 99 starts in the series heading into the 2026 campaign.
