At the conclusion of Tuesday Night’s Slinger Nationals at Slinger Speedway, 17-year-old Luke Fenhaus was able to find his way to victory lane in the prestigious Super Late Model event, while also being given the biggest opportunity of his young racing career thus far, the chance to participate in Saturday Night’s Camping World SRX Series event at the quarter-mile facility.

Looking back at what Fenhaus had to do in order to secure this victory, it’s an opportunity that is very much well-deserved, as the young up-and-comer had to hold back the very successful Ty Majeski throughout the entirety of the event – before damage from a lapped car derailed his race — as well as make a late-race pass on NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Derek Kraus in the final moments of the 200-lap event. Casey Johnson, Dennis Prunty and Austin Nason rounded out the top-five finishers in the event.
However, there may be one small hitch in the plan to get Fenhaus in the Camping World SRX Series event on Saturday Night, as the 17-year-old says that he still isn’t sure if he can participate, due to a prior comittment to another Super Late Model event that night. TobyChristie.com has reached out to a representative from the Superstar Racing Experience, in order to gain an understanding of the circumstances, should Fenhaus elect to pass.

One of the biggest headlines of the prestigious event, was the return of full-time NASCAR Cup Series competitor Erik Jones, who suffered from a pair of on-track incidents throughout the evening, beginning with an accident just laps before the 90-minute rain delay at lap 75. After returing to the track, Jones suffered from overheating issues, which would ultimately end his night and result in a 16th-place finish.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, Carson Hocevar ended up in a spectacular accident just past halfway in the event, when Steve Dorer’s No. 90 landed on top of Hocevar’s No. 14 Chevrolet Super Late Model, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Both drivers were able to emerge uninjured, but the cars would have to be repositioned to bring them back to the garage, without any further damage.
