Definitely the paint scheme of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway weekend was Kurt Busch’s No. 1 Star Nursery throwback Scheme.

It was an awesome nod to Busch’s 1999 NASCAR Southwest Tour Championship, but as it turns out the story of the throwback Scheme is even more cool than we could have imagined. Apparently, Star Nursery didn’t pay a dime to run the paint scheme.

According to Frontstretch.com’s Davey Segal, Kurt Busch picked up the tab to have the local Las Vegas business on the No. 1 car for the weekend.

What an awesome story. And it’s made even better by the fact that Busch contended for the win on Sunday. The driver led 23 laps before settling for a fifth-place finish.
