Jeffrey Earnhardt – grandson of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt — will not be returning to JD Motorsports for another full season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022, the 32-year-old confirmed on social media Tuesday morning.

Earnhardt – who has piloted the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro for the organization over the last two seasons — made the official announcement in a letter to his fans, sponsors, and team members.

“As we turn to the 2022 season, I’ve decided I’m going to seek out race-winning opportunities as sponsorship permits,” Earnhardt said in his Facebook post. “My goal has always been to win races and if that means less races in winning equipment that’s what we’ll do as we build our sponsor base.”

In 131 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Earnhardt has scored one top-five and three top-10 finishes, all of which came in 2019, when he ran a partial schedule for Joe Gibbs Racing and XCI Racing.

In 58 starts over the last two seasons for JD Motorsports, Earnhardt has a best finish of 11th at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, in which the driver survived broken parts and enormous puddles to bring home a solid result.
