On Monday Afternoon, GMS Racing announced the addition of 20-year-old ARCA Menards Series West competitor Jack Wood to their team roster, competing on a full-time basis in both the ARCA Menards Series East and Sioux Chief Showdown events in 2021.

The organization has won back-to-back championships in the ARCA Menards Series East with Sam Mayer – who will move to the NASCAR Xfinity Series on a part-time basis in 2021 — as well as the first-ever Sioux Chief Showdown championship this season.

“GMS Racing is looking forward to this next chapter for our ARCA program,” said Mike Beam, president of GMS Racing. “Our ARCA team has accomplished amazing things these last two seasons and I’m confident Jack can take over and build success next season.”

Mardy Lindley – an integral part of the team’s success — will return to the top of the pit box as the crew chief for Jack Wood’s No. 21 Chevrolet SS.

The Loomis, California-native has competed in 13 ARCA Menards Series West (was K&N Pro Series West) events to date, scoring a career-best finish of fifth-place at Colorado National Speedway in August, all driving his family-owned No. 78 Team Velocity Toyota Camry.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity to compete with GMS Racing in 2020,” said Wood. “To transition from a part-time schedule with our family-run team in the West series to running the East series full-time with a team like GMS who has won two consecutive East titles is awesome. I’m ready to get out there and learn and grow as a driver, but also to chase wins and a championship with this new team.”

While schedules for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East and Sioux Chief Showdown seasons have yet to be released, Wood’s racing schedule is expected to consist of about twenty ARCA events next season.
