Kaulig Racing has tapped Will Brown, the defending champion of the Repco Supercars Championship, to compete in the annual NASCAR Cup Series contest on the streets of Chicago, known as the Grant Park 165.

Brown, who made his NASCAR Cup Series debut with Richard Childress Racing last Summer at Sonoma Raceway, will get behind the wheel of the No. 13 MobileX-sponsored Chevrolet for the organization owned by businessman Matt Kaulig.

The No. 13 Chevrolet, a third entry for Kaulig Racing, will be heavily supported by long-time partners of the Australian driver, Mobile X, which will serve as the primary sponsor of the entry. Additional partners on the entry include Quad Lock, KMC Wheels, Direct Plasterboard Outlet (DPO), Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions, Southern Cross Truck Rentals (SCTR), Würth, Supercars Championship Repco, Xpress Fleet (XF), and Leaf Filter Gutter Protection.

“After watching [Shane Van Gisbergen] win the 2023 Chicago NASCAR race and getting to drive myself at Sonoma last year, I’ve been really keen to have a go at the Grant Park 165,” said Brown. “The Supercars calendar aligned this year to give me time to get over to Charlotte early to prepare and give the race a crack. I have watched Kaulig Racing closely this season and I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of the MobileX and Shaw and Partners Financial Services No. 13.”

Brown currently competes for Triple Eight Race Engineering in the Repco Supercars Championship, a series in which he’s won 11 races in 133 starts. Last season, the 26-year-old was able to triumph in the championship battle, and after 12 events this season currently holds the lead in the series.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Kaulig Racing to compete for a win in one of the most prestigious events on the calendar,” said team owner Matt Kaulig. “We are so excited to have Will [Brown] race with us and compete for the trophy. The team is ready, and we know he has the talent.”

The Toowoomba, Queensland-native made his NASCAR Cup Series debut for Richard Childress Racing at Sonoma Raceway. With the strong Chevrolet, Brown was third after practice, but an electrical issue during the race caused the team to fall off the lead lap, finishing 31st in the event.

The Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course kicks off at 3:30 PM ET on Sunday, July 6, live on TNT Sports. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).
