Video: Ty Gibbs Slides Into Alex Bowman; Gibbs Spins Through Infield Grass

The day started with a lot of competitors picking Ty Gibbs as the guy who had the car to beat in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. If Gibbs is going to come back to score his first-career NASCAR Cup Series win, he’s going to need a bit of a rally after an incident on Lap 126.

As Gibbs was exiting Turn 4, while battling Alex Bowman for the ninth position, Gibbs’ car got tight, which sent Gibbs up the hill. Gibbs collided with the left rear of Bowman’s No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which sent Gibbs spinning into the infield grass.

Fortunately, Gibbs was able to avoid hitting anything else, and no other drivers found trouble trying to avoid him, but the spin through the grass brought out the third caution of the day.

Weather is in the area, and is quickly approaching the 1.333-mile Nashville Superspeedway. With roughly 20 laps until the race is considered official, the intensity should continue ramping up.
