Martin Truex Jr. got collected in a multi-car accident, as he attempts to keep himself in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. The damage was not significant enough to put the No. 19 out of the race, meaning his chances are not over.

The battle to advance into the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs has become significantly more convoluted, after the second multi-car accident of Sunday morning’s Coke Zero Sugar 400.

This time, it was Michael McDowell getting tipped in front of the pack, spinning back down the track and into the path of multiple other drivers.

Martin Truex Jr. – who entered the regular-season finale on the bubble – was also involved in the crash, as well as Ross Chastain, Corey LaJoie, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, and Chris Buescher.

The damage on the No. 19 Toyota Camry TRD was similar to that of Ryan Blaney, after he was involved in a six-car melee on the 30th lap of Sunday’s 160-lap contest.

As a reminder, the only way that Truex or Blaney will miss the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, is if the Coke Zero Sugar 400 sees a brand-new winner on the season.
