Rick Ware’s worst nightmare has been envisioned on Lap #1 of the Alsco Uniforms 500(k) at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as Joey Gase [No. 51] and Garrett Smithley [No. 53] have crashed hard in Turn No. 3 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Reports from other drivers in the field say that Tyler Reddick may have been leaking oil out of his No. 8 Chevrolet, but it was later determined by the NASCAR on Fox Ghost Cars that the No. 53 of Smithley made contact with Gase sending both into the outside wall on lap 1.

Garrett Smithley would be relegated to the garage, finishing in the 40th position in Thursday Night’s Race, but Joey Gase would continue on in the race with a damaged race car.
