Harrison Burton, who had led 15 laps in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas, had a massive fire break out in his pit stall on lap 138. Screengrab from USA Network broadcast.

Utilizing a pit strategy, NASCAR Cup Series rookie Harrison Burton, who drives for the iconic No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing team, had taken the lead from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. on lap 123 of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Autotrader EchoPark 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Burton would go on to lead 15 laps before a caution came out on lap 137.

Under caution, Burton opted to hit pit road for tires and fuel, and things didn’t go as planned. As the pit stop was nearly over, fuel spilled near the rear of the car ignited and an entire inferno had swarmed around his rear tire changer Justin Prevette.

The team was able to get Burton to scoot forward out of the box, the fire was extinguished and they were allowed to finish up their stop. But scary moment.
