Video: Daniel Suarez, Ty Gibbs Trigger Seven-Car Wreck at Atlanta

As the laps continue to wind down in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the racing has continued to get more intense, leading the field to get smaller and smaller.

Thus, the first major accident of the Ambetter Health 400 occurred, which involved at least six vehicles, several of which took incredibly hard hits in the incident.

The wreck began with contact between Daniel Suarez and Ty Gibbs, which spun last Spring’s race-winner at Atlanta Motor Speedway down the track in the frontstretch and pack in front of the pack.

Cole Custer and Cody Ware took the biggest shots into the outside SAFER Barrier on the frontstretch, while Noah Gragson and JJ Yeley also got collected and sustained major damage.

Custer, Gragson, Yeley, Suarez, and Ware were all forced to retire from Sunday’s 400-miler at Atlanta Motor Speedway due to extensive damage, while Ty Gibbs was able to get his toe link fixed on pit road, and only fell two laps down.

Now, with less than 70 laps remaining in the second event of the season, only 32 drivers are remaining on the racetrack, with seven drivers meeting the end of their afternoons due to significant wrecks.
