It’s the end of one of the biggest Cinderella stories in the NASCAR Cup Series return to Bowman Gray Stadium.

Burt Myers, driving the No. 50 Chevrolet for Team AmeriVet, is out of Sunday’s Cook Out Clash Last Chance Qualifier, after significant contact from Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

Myers had driven through the 19-car field in the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier to get into the top-10, running as high as eighth-place before the incident.

Stenhouse was able to continue in the event, and give himself a shot to get into the 200-lap main event by finishing among the top-two in the LCQ.

Myers was checked and released from the infield care center.

That’s also a major hit for Team AmeriVet, the part-time NASCAR Cup Series organization that fielded the No. 50 for Myers in the pre-season exhibition event.
