Tyler Reddick will have a bright and colorful No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro when the NASCAR Cup Series returns to Darlington Raceway for the Southern 500 to kick off the 2020 Playoffs. Reddick’s throwback scheme will pay homage to Jeff Burton’s 1995 Raybestos Brakes scheme.

Reddick made the announcement in a video with NBC Sports’ Rick Allen and Jeff Burton on Monday.

In the 1995 season Burton finished the year with one top-five and two top-10s driving for the Stavola Brothers.

The season before, Burton accomplished something that Reddick hopes to achieve this season.

Burton finished 24th in the championship standings during his rookie season in ’94. Burton scored a best finish of fourth that season, which he accomplished twice. He beat Steve Grissom, Joe Nemechek, John Andretti his brother Ward Burton and others to take the honor of Rookie of the Year.

After 23 races in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, Reddick leads Christopher Bell in the rookie of the year point standings by 89 points, however, if neither driver works their way into the Cup Series Playoffs over the next three races, they will not have an opportunity to chase the ROY title, as Cole Custer’s win at Kentucky Speedway has locked him into the Cup Series Playoffs.
