The busy 2023 season of penalties being issued in the NASCAR Cup Series continued on Tuesday, as NASCAR issued it’s post-Darlington Raceway penalty report.

The No. 45 23XI Racing team, which failed Goodyear 400 pre-race inspection a couple of times, was found to be in violation of Section 14.11.2.1 A of the NASCAR Cup Series rulebook. That portion of the rule book specifically pertains to ballast added to the car.

As a result of the infraction, the No. 45 team and its driver Tyler Reddick have been docked 10 driver championship and 10 owner championship points.

With the penalty factored in, Reddick drops from eighth in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings to 10th. Likewise, the No. 45 team drops from eighth in the NASCAR Cup Series owner standings to 10th.

Also included in the penalty report were the expected sanctions against the No. 43 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team for a separated wheel on its car during the Goodyear 400, which triggered a 10-car crash.

Pit crew members Nate McBride and Adam Riley have been suspended from the next two NASCAR Cup Series events after violating sections 8.8.10.4.C of the NASCAR Cup Series rule book.
