A report from the Tennessean, says that two-time Daytona 500 champion Sterling Marlin is preparing to get back behind the wheel of a race car on Saturday.

This will mark the first time Marlin, 62, returns to the track since deep brain stimulation surgery that was performed on him in March and April in an effort to alleviate the effects of the mild form of Parkinson’s disease that Marlin suffers from.

“It was a good deal,” Marlin said to the Tennessean about the surgery. “I’m still getting over it. I had it back in March and still hadn’t gotten over it yet. I have bad days and good days.”

Marlin will compete in the late model event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

The Columbia, Tennessee native won 10 races in 748-career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts.
