Ryan Newman continues to recover from a head injury sustained in a crash on the final lap of the 2020 Daytona 500. He spent a couple of days in Halifax Medical Center after the scary crash, but since leaving the hospital he has been taking small steps of getting back to a normal life.

Wednesday, Roush Fenway Racing tweeted that Newman stopped by their shop for the first time since the crash, and the 42-year old driver received a standing ovation from the employees who work on the cars that saved Newman’s life.

There is still no timetable in place for Newman’s return behind the wheel, but the fact that he is okay enough mentally to return to the race shop is a great sign. Ross Chastain will continue to drive the No. 6 Ford Mustang while Newman is on the mend.
