Chris Buescher will not be without his crew chief Scott Graves, Jackman Matthew Wilps and Rear Tire Changer Seth Gajdorus for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series Kwik Trip 250 at Road America, as the No. 17 RFK Racing team has officially filed an appeal for a penalty from last weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway.

The No. 17 car lost it’s right rear wheel after a pit stop with under 50 laps left in last Sunday’s Ally 400. Following the race weekend, NASCAR announced four-race suspensions for the team’s crew chief, jackman and rear tire changer beginning this weekend at Road America.

However, the No. 17 team had until this afternoon to officially file an appeal of the penalty, which NASCAR confirmed to TobyChristie.com has happened.

As a result, the No. 17 team will not be without their team members this weekend, and their penalty will be examined by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel at a later date.

This year, the NASCAR Cup Series has adapted a new tire and wheel, which features a single lug nut. As a result, numerous cars have lost wheels this season due to a lug nut being all the way fastened. As such, many teams have had four-race suspensions for their crew chiefs, jackmen and tire changers.

None of those penalties have been overturned, so far, on appeal.
