As we approach the halfway point of the NASCAR Cup Series season, single-lug wheels have continued to be a major talking point, as teams continue to accrue major penalties for losing a wheel during events.

The latest team to be handed the penalty is RFK Racing, after Chris Buescher’s No. 17 Fastenal Ford Mustang lost a right-rear tire inside the final 50 laps of Sunday’s Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway.

As a result, Scott Graves (crew chief), Seth Gajdorus (rear changer), and Matthew Wilps (jack) have been suspended for the next four NASCAR Cup Series points-paying events (Road America, Atlanta, Loudon, Pocono).

At the time of publishing, RFK Racing had yet to respond to a request for comment by TobyChristie.com, in regards to naming an interim crew chief, rear tire changer, and jackman.

NASCAR Xfinity Series:

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series garage, four crew chiefs have been handed monetary fines by the sanctioning bodies, for failing to have all lug nuts properly secured on their cars at the end of Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250.

Alex Bird (6), Jason Trinchere (10), Shane Whitbeck (31), and Michael Brandt (44) have all been handed a fine of $5,000.

Other:

Tony Waters – a hauler driver for Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 4 team — has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR for violating Sections 4.1 and 10.1 of the NASCAR Rule Book, specifically NASCAR’s Substance Abuse Policy.

Waters was last on a Kyle Busch Motorsports team roster for the SpeedyCash.com 220 at Texas Motor Speedway.
