It’s no secret that Kaulig Racing is flirting with expanding their operation to include a consistent Cup Series effort.

Matt Kaulig, owner of Kaulig Racing, appeared on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio on Wednesday morning and stated that the organization is going full-time Cup Series racing in 2022.

The organization is in the midst of a part-time Cup schedule, including road courses, and superspeedways and generating some surprising results.

No specific information regarding where the organization will get their charter has been announced at this time, but the team says that they’ll run AT LEAST one car full-time in 2022, leaving the door open for the possibility of a multi-car team in their first full-time season.

One potential avenue could involve Spire Motorsports. They currently hold two full-time charters, both with the No. 7 of Corey LaJoie, and the No. 77, frequently occupied by Justin Haley, who is racing full-time for Kaulig in Xfinity. Haley is also represented by Spire Sports and Entertainment, which operates Spire Motorsports. The jump to Cup through Spire could become a less complicated route for Kaulig should they choose to merge with Spire, thanks to a charter already being utilized, and Haley already spending time in the No. 77.

TobyChristie.com has reached out to Kaulig Racing for a comment on the matter.
