According to a report from FOX4KC.com, Clint Bowyer, a former NASCAR driver and current FOX NASCAR broadcaster, was involved in a traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a 47-year old woman around 9:00 PM on Sunday, June 5th near Osage Beach, Missouri.

The reasoning for the crash is under investigation.

The report cites a crash report, which FOX4KC obtained from the Lake Ozark Police Department. In the crash report, it states that Bowyer struck a woman, who was walking on the highway ramp.

As soon as the crash occurred, Bowyer brought his vehicle to a stop and called 911. Bowyer also helped first responders find the victim.

Unfortunately, Mary Jane Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report from FOX4KC states that Bowyer showed no signs of impairment and recorded a .000 blood alcohol sample at the scene.

The victim was found to have a substance in her belongings believed to be methamphetamine, according to the report.

TobyChristie.com reached out to FOX Sports for a statement on the matter and FOX Sports issued the same statement provided in the FOX4KC story. The statement from FOX Sports read:

“We are deeply saddened by the news of this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families.”

Bowyer, who had served as an analyst on NASCAR on FOX broadcasts throughout the 2022 season, was not in the booth this past weekend at Sonoma Raceway — FOX’s last race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule.

At the time, FOX Sports stated that Bowyer was handling an unspecified “personal matter.”

Based on this report, Bowyer’s absence from the FOX Sports booth this past weekend at Sonoma is quite understandable.

Prior to becoming an analyst for FOX Sports, Bowyer, 43, spent 15 years driving full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series. Bowyer racked up 10 wins in a career that spanned from 2006 to 2020.

In 2021, Bowyer was named as the third man in the FOX Sports booth, joining Mike Joy and Jeff Gordon. After the 2021 season, Gordon moved from his role at FOX Sports and took on an enhanced role at Hendrick Motorsports.

As Gordon left, FOX transitioned to a hybrid two man booth with a rotating third person, which included legendary names such as Tony Stewart and Larry McReynolds.
