Big news for West Coast NASCAR fans as Phoenix Raceway will once again return as the season finale for the NASCAR Cup Series during the 2023 season. NASCAR made the announcement on Tuesday.
In addition to the NASCAR Cup Series Championship race, Phoenix will also host the 2023 series finales for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series West.
“This historic achievement wouldn’t be possible without the outpouring of support the community and our fans continue to show for events at our facility,” said Phoenix Raceway President Julie Giese. “They continue to make Phoenix Raceway a must-visit sports and entertainment destination, and our dedicated team will continue their tireless efforts to deliver a championship-caliber experience that our race fans will remember for years to come.”
This announcement comes with more good news for Phoenix Raceway, their grandstand tickets have officially sold out for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship race with just over five months left until the race takes place.
The 2022 NASCAR Championship Weekend runs from November 4th to November 6th.
According to NASCAR and Phoenix Raceway, a select number of standing-room-only, hillside and FanShield Infield Experience tickets remain for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season finale.
Due to the frantic nature of ticket sales for Phoenix Raceway’s 2022 Championship race, the track has already created a wait list for the 2023 Championship Race Weekend tickets, which will allow fans to get priority access to those tickets when they go on sale.
Phoenix Raceway has served as the host for NASCAR’s Championship weekend since the 2020 season. Prior to Phoenix playing host to the Championship Weekend, Homestead-Miami hosted the season finale from 2002 to 2019.

While this announcement is great for the West Coast fans, it leaves the fans on the East coast, having to travel, or watch it on TV. This race should be moved from track to track each year. They moved the All-Star race. The track at Phoenix, is less than a great track. It isn’t much better than a short track. The Championship Race, should be held at a much better suited track. Having there is just plain boring. Nascar is trying to grab more people. But this kind of move will do the opposite Just sayin’
