Ahead of his first full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series, Monster Energy announced on Friday that they would continue their support of 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Ty Gibbs.

Gibbs, who will pilot the No. 54 Toyota Camry TRD for Joe Gibbs Racing, will have Monster Energy on board his entry for the majority of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, starting with the Busch Light Clash at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

The company has been a loyal supporter of the Charlotte, North Carolina-native since 2019, enjoying championships in back-to-back seasons in the ARCA Menards Series (2021) and NASCAR Xfinity Series (2022).

“Monster Energy has been a great partner for me and Joe Gibbs Racing, and we’re stoked to have them on board for the majority of the races in 2023,” Gibbs said. “I can’t thank the Monster Energy team enough, especially Rodney Sacks, (Chairman and Co-CEO), Hilton Schlosberg (Vice Chairman and Co-CEO) Mitch Covington (Senior Vice President of Sports Marketing), Dave Gowland (Vice President of Motorsport Marketing), Tom Norwood (Director of NASCAR Marketing) and Eldena Nawrocki (Marketing) for all their support. They are behind me 100 percent and I love representing them.”

Gibbs enters the new season, his first full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, fighting for Rookie of The Year honors against fellow Xfinity Series title contender Noah Gragson.

In 2022, Gibbs served in an interim role with 23XI Racing – subbing for Kurt Busch after a qualifying crash at Pocono – which gained him 15 races of experience in the NASCAR Cup Series. During his 15-race stint with the team, the 20-year-old scored a single top-10 at Michigan.

Over the last two seasons, Gibbs has turned heads as a breakout star in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, collecting an impressive 11 victories in 51 career starts, including a victory on debut at Daytona’s Road Course in 2021.

“Monster is honored and excited to announce our partnership with JGR and Ty Gibbs,” Covington said. “We have enjoyed a great relationship over the years and this season with Ty will be fun. Ty has a tremendous work ethic and has proven his talent over the past few years, and we have all the confidence in the world he will continue his growth and success.”

Neither Joe Gibbs Racing nor Monster Energy has provided additional information surrounding the sponsorship schedule, or a number of races for Monster’s sponsorship of Ty Gibbs and the No. 54 Toyota Camry.
