Miles Stanley, a NASCAR Cup Series championship-winning race engineer for Team Penske, has been named as the crew chief for the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing team for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. Stanley will guide Josh Berry, who will enter his second full-time season in the series and first season with the Wood Brothers, from atop the pit box.
Stanley, a native of Akron, Ohio, is proud to be able to represent the legendary Wood Brothers Racing team as the crew chief in the organization’s 75th season.
“The Wood Brothers name is synonymous with the sport of NASCAR, and to be able to serve as the crew chief for the iconic No. 21 is an incredible opportunity,” said Stanley. “I’m looking forward to working with Josh Berry, whose skills and enthusiasm are sure to bring great value to the team. It’s an exciting time for the Wood Brothers with the addition of Josh Berry and the celebration of their 75th anniversary in NASCAR in 2025. We’ll be ready to hit the ground running.”
After graduating from the University of Akron with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2007, Stanley got his start in motorsports working as an engineer and crew chief in the open-wheel ranks. After a two-year stint in the Champ Car Atlantic Series, Stanley moved to the stock car racing world as a race engineer for Robby Gordon Motorsports and later served as the crew chief for that team.
In 2012, Stanley moved to BK Racing where served as the head of race track engineering until the 2013 season, when he moved to Team Penske. Stanley has remained at Team Penske since then, where he won the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series championship as the race engineer for Joey Logano’s No. 22 team, and for the past three seasons he has maintained the role of Performance Engineering Manager.
Stanley’s achievements at Team Penske led Wood Brothers Racing to come to the conclusion that he was the right man to take over for departing crew chief Jeremy Bullins, who left the team ahead of last weekend’s Straight Talk Wireless 400.
“Miles has built an impressive resume filled with wins and championships, and he has a deep, technical understanding of the sport. His commitment and impressive track record make him a perfect fit for the No. 21 team as we enter an exciting new chapter,” said Jon Wood, president, Wood Brothers Racing. “Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most talented crew chiefs in NASCAR, and I look forward to seeing what Miles and Josh accomplish on the track next year.”
Stanley will not move over to the No. 21 team before the end of the 2024 season. His first race as the crew chief of the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford will come in The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.
Wood Brothers Racing scored its 100th NASCAR Cup Series win all-time earlier this season in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
