Dave Elenz and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB have parted ways, effective immediately, the team revealed in a statement on Tuesday.
Elenz has spent the last three seasons partnered with Erik Jones, where he’s served as the crew chief of the No. 43 Toyota Camry XSE since the team rebranded to Petty GMS Motorsports in 2022.
“LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and Dave Elenz have parted ways, and the organization would like to thank Dave for his stewardship of the No. 43 over the past three seasons,” said Cal Wells III, CEO of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.
In continuation of a widespread competition realignment for the organization, both of the team’s full-time drivers will have new crew chiefs for the remainder of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.
Ben Beshore, who has spent the opening 31 events of the season as crew chief for John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE, will be moving to work with Erik Jones and the No. 43 team.
Meanwhile, Brian Campe, recently announced as joining LEGACY MOTOR CLUB as the team’s Technical Director, will partner with John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 42 team for the final five events of 2024.
It’s been a tough season for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, who last Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway just picked up their first top-five result of the season, with Erik Jones finishing fifth.
Both Jones and Nemechek sit 30th-place or worse in NASCAR Cup Series point standings this deep into the season, with a combined five top-five results. while Jimmie Johnson has yet to finish in the top 25 in his limited campaign.
The Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL will serve as the first race in which these crew chief swaps are active and is set to take place Sunday, October 13 at 2:00 PM ET on NBC.
