Josh Berry and Wood Brothers Racing have continued to show fantastic pace on the mile-and-a-halfs in 2025, and in Sunday’s Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway, that trend continued.
The Hendersonville, Tennessee-native had secured the race lead and was pacing the NASCAR Cup Series field for a total of 41 laps — second to Austin Cindric at that point in the event — when things went sour for the No. 21.
While attempting to work around the outside of the lapped vehicle of Cody Ware, Berry got too high in Turn 3 and slipped out of the dominant groove, causing his Würth Ford Mustang Dark Horse to spin around.

Berry could not straighten his car back out and made significant contact with the outside wall in Turn 4, causing significant damage to the left rear of the car.
The driver of the No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse would take his Wood Brothers Racing Ford Mustang to the garage so that his team could attempt to fix the damage, but barring a return to the track, and some major attrition, the 34-year-old will likely finish outside the top-30.
“The car was really good. I could tell early on that our car was really strong, especially after the first pit stop when we made an adjustment, it was really good and we got out front and felt really good about it,” said Berry. “Just started to approach the lap traffic. You have no choice but to run the opposite lane. Your car is never going to turn if you follow them. I went around the 62 on the outside and felt pretty decent about it. Then caught the 51 and was working on the 51 and hit that bump and got loose.”
