
Post-race inspection following Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway has been completed.
Chase Elliott’s race-winning No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro has passed. As a result, NASCAR has declared Elliott and his team the official winners of the race.
This marks Elliott’s fifth victory of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, which is the most of anyone in the series. Elliott’s fifth win of the year also ties his 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Championship season as the most he’s ever scored in a single season.
The 26-year-old driver from Dawsonville, Georgia now has 18 wins in his NASCAR Cup Series career. Elliott has also advanced to the Round of 8 in the Playoffs with this victory.
No issues were detected in post-race inspection, which means all results and standings following Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway are now considered official.
The No. 4 car and No. 19 car will go back to the NASCAR R&D Center for further inspection.
Ryan Blaney, another Playoff contender, who won Stage 1 on Sunday, is the official runner-up finisher of the race. Michael McDowell came home in third and he was followed to the line by Playoff contenders Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin.
