Erik Jones and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB didn’t have the greatest of afternoons in Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway, finishing in 24th-place.
Despite the afternoon turning out to be somewhat subpar, the No. 43 Toyota Camry XSE did manage to collect solid points in Sunday’s event, finishing fifth in the race’s first stage (collecting six points) and 24th in the race (collecting another 13 points).
Unfortunately, it was all for not. When going through NASCAR’s post-race inspection process, the Dollar Tree-sponsored entry was found not to meet the minimum weight requirement after the event, resulting in a disqualification from the seventh event of the 2025 season.
Jones will now be dropped to the bottom of the running order, being credited with a 38th-place finish and being awarded with a single championship point — a net loss of 18 total points.
The new top-10 for the race’s first stage is Joey Logano, Alex Bowman, AJ Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski, John Hunter Nemechek, Ryan Preece, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Cole Custer, and Kyle Larson.
However, the disqualification knocks Jones from what would have been 21st in NASCAR Cup Series point standings to 29th in series points, a loss of eight positions.
NASCAR will not only bring the No. 43 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Toyota Camry XSE back to NASCAR’s R&D Center in Charlotte, North Carolina for further inspection, but will also bring the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet, as well.
Denny Hamlin was named the official winner of the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway after passing post-race inspection.
