Eddie D’Hondt, one of the most accomplished spotters in the NASCAR Cup Series, will be on the move in 2025. The veteran spotter has reached a multi-year agreement to serve as the spotter for the No. 7 Spire Motorsports team, and driver Justin Haley.

D’Hondt revealed his 2025 plans in a post on his X account, where he shared a Spire Motorsports logo and captioned it with, “Very excited to announce a signed multi-year deal to join @SpireMotorsport and the #7 team. Can’t wait to get started & help building forward.”

The 65-year-old veteran spotter, who is currently working as the spotter for Josh Berry and the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing team, will make his debut as a spotter for Spire Motorsports in The Clash at Bowman-Gray Stadium in February.

In moving to the No. 7 Spire Motorsports team, D’Hondt will remain paired with Rodney Childers, who is the current crew chief for Berry and the No. 4 team and will serve as the crew chief for Haley in 2025.

D’Hondt moved to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024 after a 12-year-stint as a spotter for Hendrick Motorsports, but when SHR announced in May that the team would close its doors at the conclusion of the 2024 season, it put D’Hondt’s future into question.

The hot commodity atop the spotter’s stand wasn’t a free agent for long. D’Hondt, who had a hand in several NASCAR Cup Series race wins and a championship for Chase Elliott in 2020, will look to add more hardware to his resume as a spotter in 2025 with the blossoming Spire Motorsports team and the 25-year-old Haley.
