After racing for the last two weeks with a splint on his left hand, Chase Briscoe, driver of the No. 14 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing, underwent surgery to repair his broken left middle finger early on Monday.

At 7:42 AM ET, Marissa Briscoe, Chase’s wife, confirmed that the NASCAR Cup Series driver had come out of surgery and that things went according to plan: “Chase [Briscoe] is out of surgery and all is well, thank you everyone for the prayers. Keep them coming.”

Briscoe initially competed with his broken finger at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he finished inside the top-10 in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event on Saturday, and the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday.

The incident which broke his finger occurred on April 6, three days prior to the Food City Dirt Race. The Mitchell, Indiana-native was racing his Dirt Late Model when his car got tight, and drifted up to the wall, ripping the steering wheel out of his hands, and thus breaking his finger.

However, in collaboration with his doctors, Briscoe was able to race with a specially-made splint on his left hand, which caused him very little pain from running the 400 laps around the half-mile dirt-covered Bristol.

While it looked like surgery may happen mid-week between Bristol and Martinsville, Briscoe elected to wait another week, with how physically demanding Martinsville was expected to be, due to having to shift four times every lap.

Still racing with the broken finger, Briscoe was able to put together another stellar result in the NOCO 400, scoring back-to-back finishes inside the top five for the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career, after leading 109 laps.

Briscoe will be on the mend until this weekend when the NASCAR Cup Series travels to Talladega Superspeedway for the second of four superspeedway events on the calendar this season. As expected, the 28-year-old driver will compete in the event for Stewart-Haas Racing.

At about 4:00 PM ET, Briscoe posted a video to Twitter, thanking the fans for all of the support:
