After successfully parking the Liberty University Camaro in victory lane at Daytona in August, NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron will get an updated look for the sponsor in 2021.

The scheme is a significant departure from the traditionally Navy Blue dominated design in years past, trading it in for a clean white base.

The new design now sports starts running along the front fascia as well as the contingency space. The scheme will also keep a single, large flame at the front wheel area, a nod to Liberty University’s athletic efforts – the Liberty Flames.

“I’m really excited about the Liberty University paint scheme for the 2021 season,” Byron said in a media release. “We brought back more of the white as a base that we used during the Xfinity Series days. I think it looks great and will really stand out when it’s on track whether it’s a day race or under the lights. I’m really looking forward to getting back on track and hopefully getting some wins with it.”

Liberty University signed an extension with Hendrick Motorsports in 2019, which takes the agreement through the 2021 season. Liberty will serve as the primary sponsor of the Charlotte, North Carolina driver in 12 Cup Series races for the upcoming season.

“Although the old car had an exceptional design, we thought it was time to change things up a bit,” Liberty University said in a statement. “We hope that designing a new, winning paint scheme for the Liberty University No. 24 Chevy will bring added excitement to the Hendrick Motorsports fans and LU family for the 2021 season.”

Adding a new element to the driver and sponsor relationship, Byron is currently enrolled at Liberty, studying business communications through the school’s online program.

The University has been a long time supporter of Byron, dating back as far as 2014 when he began racing late models for JR Motorsports. The institution followed him to Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and the XFINITY Series with JR Motorsports.

Byron added to his own legacy with the University when he was crowned the 2017 XFINITY Series champion.

Liberty’s 12 races as a primary sponsor for Byron are expected to be announced at a later date.
