The final laps of the 2025 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway have been slightly delayed due to a rain shower that has put a layer of water on the racetrack in Turn 1.

NASCAR called the caution for precipitation, with five laps remaining in the crown jewel event, and has since brought the field down pit road so that the Air Tundra’s can get to work at the end of the frontstretch and into Turn 1.

The sanctioning body says it expects the delay to last until approximately 5:30 pm ET.

Bubba Wallace is the current leader of the Brickyard 400, but with four laps remaining, is destined to be close on fuel to finish the race. Charles Denike, Wallace’s crew chief, has said on the radio that the No. 23 is good to run through one green-white-checkered.

Kyle Larson is second, with William Byron behind him in third. Denny Hamlin and Josh Berry complete the top-five in the running order. Tyler Reddick, Chase Briscoe, Christopher Bell, Chris Buescher, and Carson Hocevar complete the top-10.

When the race gets back green (provided another rain shower doesn’t impact the drying process), there will be 23 drivers scored on the lead-lap, as Katherine Legge, driver of the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports, has received the free pass.

There will likely only be two laps remaining when the field gets the green flag in NASCAR Overtime. Then, should the leader make it to the white flag, the next flag will end the race, whether it be the caution or the checkered.
