Richard Childress Racing has decided to make a change on top of the pit box for Kyle Busch and the No. 8 Chevrolet, beginning this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL.

Andy Street, a part-time crew chief in both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series this year, will be taking over as crew chief for Busch, a two-time champion of the NASCAR Cup Series, in the final five events of 2025.

Randall Burnett, a long-time employee of Richard Childress Racing, will remain with the organization in an advisory role until the end of his contract with the organization. Next season, Burnett will be working with rookie Connor Zilisch at Trackhouse Racing.

“With Richard Childress Racing and Randall Burnett parting ways at the end of the season, RCR has decided Andy Street will step in as crew chief of the No. 8 team with driver Kyle Busch, effective this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” a social media post from Richard Childress Racing reads. “Burnett will continue contributing in a support role with the organization through the end of the season.”

Street has been a member of Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Xfinity Series program for several years, serving as the crew chief of the team’s flagship entry from 2020 to 2024, working with drivers such as Myatt Snider, Anthony Alfredo, Kaz Grala, and, most recently, Austin Hill. In his time as an Xfinity Series crew chief, Street recorded 11 wins — 10 with Austin Hill and one with Myatt Snider.

This season, the Kernersville, North Carolina-native transitioned off the pit box full-time, working part-time as a crew chief for the team’s third entry in both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, while also providing competition direction and assistance to RCR’s alliance partners in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

It’s been an incredibly tough stretch for Kyle Busch and the No. 8 Chevrolet at Richard Childress Racing, with the team having not visited Victory Lane since June 2023 at WWT Raceway. Busch, a 63-time NASCAR Cup Series winner, is accustomed to winning races and performing at a high level, but as of late, the speed hasn’t been there.

Busch is currently on track to have one of his worst seasons of his two-decade career in the NASCAR Cup Series, having only recorded a pair of top-five results — on the road courses of Circuit of The Americas (COTA) and the Chicago Street Course.

With a brand-new crew chief calling the shots, Busch will look to snap the longest win streak of his NASCAR Cup Series career and get prepared for the beginning of 2026, in hopes of coming out swinging.
