Alex Bowman and Hendrick Motorsports will roll up to Darlington Raceway with a black-and-white paint scheme for next weekend’s annual Throwback Weekend, paying homage to a significant landmark in the history of the championship-winning organization.

With continued support from full-season primary sponsor Ally Financial, the No. 48 Chevrolet will be decked out in a paint scheme similar to that of 2012 Southern 500 winner Jimmie Johnson, who brought the Lowe’s / Kobalt Tools Chevrolet to Victory Lane in the prestigious event.

That triumph wasn’t just another crown jewel victory added to an already incredible resume for Jimmie Johnson, but also served as the 200th NASCAR Cup Series victory for Hendrick Motorsports — making the team just the second organization to exceed that mark at NASCAR’s top level.

One of three seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champions, Johnson is widely considered to be one of the best to ever compete in NASCAR, and throughout the four-decade tenure of Hendrick Motorsports has been one of the team’s two main breadwinners.

As an 83-time winner for the organiation, Johnson ranks second in all-time victories for the Rick Hendrick-owned team, only behind four-time champion and the team’s Vice Chairman, Jeff Gordon.

Bowman is set to honor the driver who put the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet on the map, in terms of international recognition, setting him up for a fruitful career after taking over the seat in 2021.

Since taking over the iconic number, Bowman has secured six victories in the NASCAR Cup Series, the most recent of which happened last July at the Chicago Street Course.

Six races into the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series campaign, Bowman sits in third-place in point standings — behind Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Kyle Larson. The No. 48 has put together an impressive statline this season, with one top-five (Homestead) and five top-10 finishes.

The Goodyear 400 will take place on Sunday, April 6 at Darlington Raceway. Coverage of the event will be at 3:30 PM ET on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
