The road to a potential win or good finish just got a bit more difficult for three drivers and teams before the start of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Alex Bowman, who drives the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro, and Corey LaJoie, who drives the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro, will start from the rear of the field after unapproved adjustments to their race cars.

Bowman was slated to roll from the grid in the 13th starting spot, while LaJoie had the 25th starting position.

Both drivers will be credited with their original starting positions in the official NASCAR record book (keep that in mind for fantasy games where points are given for positions gained or lost).

James Davison, who drives the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing entry, will also drop to the rear for failing pre-race inspection twice on Sunday. Davison had the 29th starting spot.

Like Bowman and LaJoie, Davison will still be officially listed as starting 29th despite dropping to the rear before Sunday’s race.
