Jay Frye, president of the NTT IndyCar Series, showcased a recent video of the aeroscreen’s continued positive presence in the sport.
The footage shows Callum Ilott, rookie for Juncos Hollinger Racing, trailing Jack Harvey during final practice in the last round at Texas Motor Speedway. After the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing pilot crashed on the exit of Turn 2, debris scattered across the track with a significantly large piece hitting the aeroscreen as Ilott passed through the incident.
Ilott later noted on social media that there “was virtually zero damage to the aeroscreen” despite the heavy contact.
We don’t share this type stuff often- but this incredibly high tech/game changer did its job again- thanks again for incredible effort to all involved getting it done. #aeroscreen pic.twitter.com/UqL9ZDtDZ8
