A promising run for Kyle Kirkwood came to an early end at Texas Motor Speedway.
The NTT IndyCar Series rookie was one of the notable chargers throughout the first half of the 248-lap race, managing to utilize strategy to be a mover into the top 10 and even leading five laps during a pit stop cycle.
However, it unraveled quickly on Lap 113 as Kirkwood was running on the second lane trying to pass fellow rookie Devlin DeFrancesco. A quick subtle move by DeFrancesco led to Kirkwood’s No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet into the stained area, which led to a spin followed by an hard impact into the Turn 4 SAFER Barrier.
Kirkwood was treated and released from the Infield Care Center.
The yellow flag is out on after @kkirkwoodracing’s daring run on the outside ends with this incident.
