McLaren Racing confirmed Felix Rosenqvist is staying put at Arrow McLaren SP for the 2023 NTT IndyCar Series season. The Swede will be part of a three-car squad next year, alongside Pato O’Ward and incoming veteran Alexander Rossi.
Additionally, McLaren confirmed Alex Palou, the 2021 IndyCar champion, has joined its Formula 1 car testing program (TPC) and will pilot a 2021 MCL25M in his first test that began today.
In his second season with Arrow McLaren SP, Rosenqvist finished eighth in the 2022 championship standings, with one podium, 10 tops 10s and two poles. Rosenqvist has five pdoiums and three poles since being named Rookie of the Year in 2019.
“There’s no better way to enter the off-season than with this news! I love this team, and I’m so happy to continue working with all the incredible people I’ve gotten to know over the past two seasons,” Rosenqvist said. “With everything the team has in the pipeline, the continuing relationship with Pato and the addition of Alex Rossi, we are going to bring our A-game for 2023. It will be the most exciting season for me so far. Let it be March already!”
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, said, “I’m delighted that Felix will again be racing with AMSP through 2023. He had a strong 2022 season, and I look forward to seeing what he, Alex Rossi and Pato O’Ward can do when they join forces in papaya.”
For Palou, the 2022 season was a title defense that ended with a win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca en route to fifth in the championship. Palou confirmed via social media he will remain with Chip Ganassi Racing for 2023.
