IndyCar has confirmed the dates for the three 2023 open tests, including spring training in February.
The Thermal Club will host what has been termed a “preseason scrimmage” by IndyCar president Jay Frye on Thursday, February 2nd and Friday, February 3rd.
The circuit used will be a 17-turn, 2.9-mile road course using a combined layout of the north and south circuits on the property located near Palm Springs, California.
“The teams will be doing everything it takes to prepare for a run at the 2023 championship at a new and unique backdrop for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES,” Frye said in a series release. “The facility is spectacular and I know everyone at The Thermal Club cannot wait to welcome our paddock.”
The open test for the 107th Indianapolis 500 will be held on the Thursday and Friday of April 20th and 21st, weather permitting. Previous open tests at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway have been rescheduled due to inclement weather.
The final open test for the 2023 IndyCar season will be September 7th at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, three days before the 2023 season finale. WeatherTech Raceway will be repaved for the 2023 season and this open test will allow the teams to better hone their car setups for the new surface.
