The Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR weekend kicks off with a classic ARCA Menards Series marquee event, as the fifth race of the 2025 campaign takes the series to the mile-and-a-half oval of Charlotte Motor Speedway for the running of the General Tire 150.
Last year’s running of the event saw NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series veteran Tanner Gray swipe the lead away from current NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie contender Carson Kvapil in the 100-lap showdown.
Entering the competition on Friday evening, defending race winner, Brenden Queen, possesses a one-point lead over Lawless Alan and Lavar Scott as the championship title battle continues to heat up entering the summer months of the season.
Among the 31-car entry list for Charlotte, many familiar faces are taking part for their shot at hoisting the General Tire 150 trophy after the dust settles in Concord, North Carolina.
The most notable driver on the entry list is Garrett Mitchell, better known as Cleetus McFarland, who will take on his third ARCA Menards Series event of 2025 in the No. 30 Kenetik Ford Mustang for Rette Jones Racing.
Charlotte will mark the first non-drafting track start of Mitchell’s career in the ARCA Menards Series, with his previous starts coming at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, with a career-best of tenth.
REV Racing will bring a pair of entries to Charlotte Motor Speedway, with Lavar Scott continuing in the No. 6, and Lanie Buice making her second ARCA Menards Series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway, after an impressive eighth in her series debut at Kansas.
NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie William Sawalich will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing for his final scheduled event of the ARCA Menards Series campaign.
Spencer Gallagher is back for his fourth and final scheduled race in the No. 23 Sigma Performance Services Chevrolet SS. The 35-year-old is riding off a recent ninth-place finish at Kansas back on May 9.
Patrick Starapoli is looking for a comeback result after his motor expired last race at Kansas, as he gets back behind the wheel of the No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota Camry.
CR7 Motorsports will bring a pair of entries on Friday, with Jason Kitzmiller jumping over to the No. 79 Chevrolet, with the team’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Grant Enfinger driving the No. 97 Chevrolet.
Road course specialist and part-time Xfinity Series competitor, Austin Green, will team up with points leader Queen, driving the No. 82 Chevrolet SS for Pinnacle Racing Group.
Notable drivers in the event still in the running for the ARCA Meanrds Series championship are the Venturini Motorsports drivers of Lawless Alan and Isabella Robusto, Thad Moffitt, Andy Jankowiak, Michael Maples, Brayton Laster, Alex Clubb, and Brad Smith, to name a few.
The General Tire 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway will air live on FS1 at 6:30 pm ET on Friday, May 23. Radio coverage will be provided by the Performance Racing Network, ARCARacing.com, and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
