With inclement weather set to obliterate Los Angeles, California on Sunday – and throughout most of the following week – NASCAR has made an unprecedented decision, changing the on-track schedule for the weekend.

The sanctioning body announced on Saturday afternoon that both the Busch Light Clash (NASCAR Cup Series) and the King Taco La Batallia En El Coliseo (NASCAR Mexico Series) will be run on Saturday (February 3).

First up, in terms of main events, is the Busch Light Clash, which will be running at 5:00 pm PT (8:00 pm ET) on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Following the conclusion of the exhibition event, the NASCAR Mexico Series will then tackle the LA Memorial Coliseum.

With the schedule being so jam-packed, NASCAR has been forced to ax the four heat races (scheduled for Saturday), as well as the Last Chance Qualifier (scheduled to run on Sunday before the NASCAR Mexico Series event).

The cancellation of the preliminary events has forced changes in the eligibility for the 150-lap main event. Now, the fastest 22 drivers in final practice for the NASCAR Cup Series will lock a spot into the Busch Light Clash.

However, unchanged is the final position being awarded to the driver not already locked into the field who finished highest in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series point standings.

Furthermore, practice for the NASCAR Cup Series teams attempting to qualify for the Busch Light Clash will be moved ahead 25 minutes, now running at 2:35 pm PT (5:35 pm ET).
