On Tuesday, RTA Media Holdings, LLC announced the completion of its Series B round of funding. According to a press release from RTA Media Holdings, the funding includes investments made by a combination of the 15 Charter-Holding NASCAR Cup Series RTA Member Teams and other outside strategic investors.
The Series B round of funding will allow RTA Media Holdings to continue the expansion of offerings within Racing America across its three platforms; RacingAmerica.com, RacingAmerica.tv (OTT platform), and the Racing America Channel (24/7 FAST free streaming service) and will help RTA Media Holdings continue its goal of growing the popularity of Motorsports in the United States.
“The RTA Member Teams continued investment in the Racing America platform demonstrates their commitment to bring fans content featuring the Teams and their Drivers, plus live grassroots racing from across the country, in order to continue to promote and grow the sport of stock car racing,” said Colin Smith, RTA Media/Racing America, president. “Additionally, our ability to attract third-party strategic investment shows that the company is well positioned for growth as we expand our content offerings and audience reach. With the increased attention that new media channels are bringing to our sport, it’s an exciting time to be leading Racing America.”
Over the past year, Racing America has seen overall growth in both the viewing audience and monthly subscribers to the platform. Racing America enjoyed an increased number of households reached by the brand’s FAST channel, and RTA Media Holdings enjoyed a very successful introduction of Racers Forum, a racing industry B2B confab.
In 2023, the Media Arm of the RTA also launched RacerJobs.com, which is a digital recruitment platform featuring hundreds of available jobs in the U.S. motorsports industry, and RacerTravel.com, a digital travel savings platform specializing in low rates for racing destinations.
The Race Team Alliance is a 501(c)(6) organization that works with NASCAR, tracks, the Driver’s Association, and others as liaisons to affect change within the sport of NASCAR. The organization was founded in 2014.
The 15 Charter-Holding teams that make up the Race Team Alliance as of 2024 include 23XI Racing, Front Row Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports, JTG Daugherty Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Kaulig Racing, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, Team Penske, Richard Childress Racing, RFK Racing, Rick Ware Racing, Spire Motorsports, Stewart-Haas Racing, Trackhouse Racing, and Wood Brothers Racing.
The RTA’s advocation on behalf of NASCAR Team Owners has led to an influx of celebrities such as Michael Jordan and Pitbull becoming partial team owners in the NASCAR Cup Series in recent years.
In 2018, the RTA spearheaded the now-defunct NASCAR Heat Pro League, an eSports racing league. In 2019, RTA Media Holdings acquired Speed51.com, which was rebranded to Racing America.
The RTA partnered with Candy Digital in 2022 to produce special limited edition digital collectible NFTs of cars that would compete in the Daytona 500 that season.
