CJ McLaughlin will once again return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series on a part-time basis in 2024, contesting select events in the No. 38 Ford Mustang for RSS Racing, the organization’s fourth part-time entry.
The organization announced the news via social media on Wednesday, while also confirming that the 31-year-old will begin his part-time campaign with the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
McLaughlin serves as the Northeast Sales Representative for SciAps, who is expected to once again provide sponsorship of the part-time effort for the multi-season veteran of NASCAR’s National Series.
Since making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Loudon in 2019, McLaughlin has jumped around between several organizations, including RSS Racing, BJ McLeod Motorsports, Mike Harmon Racing, MBM Motorsports, and Emerling-Gase Motorsports.
Throughout his career, the Framingham, Massachusetts-native has accumulated 40 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, in which time he’s scored a single top-10 result — a 10th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway in 2022, driving for RSS Racing.
McLaughlin will be the lone part-time driver at RSS Racing in 2024, joining three full-time drivers Ryan Sieg, Kyle Sieg, and Blaine Perkins, who will pilot the No. 39, No. 28, and No. 29 for the organization, respectively.
At this time, the organization has no plans to field the No. 38 as a full-time entry in 2024, with the team telling Joseph Srigley of TobyChristie.com in December that the organization will only operate three full-time teams and one part-time team.
A representative from @RSS283839 tells me that the organization plans to field a fourth, part-time entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series throughout the season.

McLaughlin has made three previous starts in the Xfinity Series at Daytona, earning finishes of 27th, 35th, and most recently 31st in the 2023 season-opener at the 2.5-mile superspeedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
