Spencer Boyd will have a new home for his racing ventures in 2024 as he’ll move to the newly formed Freedom Racing Enterprises team, which will field the No. 76 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Boyd, who will serve as the driver/co-owner for the team, made the announcement at a press event at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Monday, where he unveiled the No. 76 truck for the first time.

Chris Miller, who owns Freedom Warranty will be the team’s co-owner.

Freedom Warranty, Nor-Cal Equipment Rentals, Tibbett’s Lumber Co., and Latitude Aero will serve as primary sponsors for the team.

Joining the 28-year-old Boyd at Freedom Racing Enterprises will be legendary NASCAR crew chief Jeff Hammond, who will serve as the General Manager for the race team.

Veteran crew chief Greg Ely, who last served as a crew chief for Hill Motorsports during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, will be the crew chief for the No. 76 team.

The team has acquired trucks and owner points from GMS Racing. Boyd tells TobyChristie.com that the No. 76 team will operate with the No. 43 team’s 2023 Owner Points heading into the new season.

Boyd, who has spent the last five seasons with Young’s Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks, is excited about his new opportunity.

“This is a wildly proud moment for me.  If you asked a wide-eyed 20-year-old me at Martinsville Speedway if I was going to start my own NASCAR team in the next decade, I might have laughed it off,” Boyd said. “I have been blessed to be able to race cars for a living and remain part of the NASCAR family for as long as I have.  I wouldn’t be here without a small group of very important people to my career so I definitely want to thank them for believing in me through thick and thin.  They know who they are and hope they are sharing in this feeling of pride.”

The Missouri native has one career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win, which came at Talladega Superspeedway during the 2019 season. Boyd has two top-five finishes and three top-10s in a career that spans 108 starts in the NASCAR Truck Series.
