On December 2nd, Eddie D’Hondt announced that he would not return as Chase Elliott’s spotter for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, ending a relationship that began when Elliott joined Hendrick Motorsports full-time in 2016.

On Tuesday, Hendrick Motorsports confirmed to TobyChristie.com that Trey Poole will take over as the new spotter for Elliott and the No. 9 team in 2024. Bob Pockrass had the first report of Poole moving to be the spotter for Elliott.

Poole, who has served as an additional spotter for Elliott over the last few years, is Elliott’s cousin.

Elliott, the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion, went winless and missed the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for the first time in his eight-year NASCAR Cup Series career in 2023.

Elliott missed a total of seven events in 2023, six for a broken leg sustained in a snowboarding accident following the second race of the season, and an additional race for a suspension after intentionally crashing Denny Hamlin in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 28-year-old Elliott will look to bounce back to championship form in 2024, and he’ll have the voice of his cousin in his ear all year long.
