Report: Cameron Waters to Make NASCAR Debut in 2024

The Australian Supercars infusion into NASCAR continues to grow as Cameron Waters is expected to dip his toe into the NASCAR Cup Series ranks in 2024, according to an episode of the Speedcafe Newscast.

Waters, who is aligned with Ford, will reportedly run three races with RFK Racing in the team’s #Stage60 entry with primary sponsorship from Monster Energy. The three races for Watson are expected to be a combination of road races and the Chicago Street Course event.

“I have no knowledge of that,” an RFK Racing representative told TobyChristie.com when asked about the authenticity of the report from Speedcafe’s Newscast.

Waters, who races for Tickford Racing in Australia, has 10 victories and 43 podium finishes in 150 starts in Australian Supercars competition. If he ends up making NASCAR starts for RFK Racing, or another race team in 2024, it’ll continue a recent trend.

With Shane van Gisbergen already making the move to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2024, and Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki expected to run a partial schedule in the NASCAR Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing in 2024, Waters becomes the third prominent driver in the Australian Supercars Series to dip their toe into NASCAR over the last couple of seasons.

The similarities between the NASCAR Next Gen car and the chassis that are utilized in the Supercars Series combined with NASCAR adding more road races and now a street course event in Chicago have led to increased interest from Australian Supercars drivers in moving to NASCAR.

Shane van Gisbergen won in his NASCAR Cup Series debut at the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series street race at the Chicago Street Course.
