Denny Hamlin Undergoes Successful Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery

Denny Hamlin has undergone a successful arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, per a press release from Joe Gibbs Racing. Hamlin, 43, is expected to make a full recovery in time for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series season.

A native of Chesterfield, Virginia, Hamlin is a 51-time winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, where he currently competes full-time in the No. 11 Toyota Camry TRD, while also serving as co-owner of 23XI Racing, which fields entries for Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick.

According to The Mayo Clinic, Arthroscopy is a procedure for diagnosing and treating joint problems. A surgeon inserts a narrow tube attached to a fiber-optic video camera through a small incision – about the size of a buttonhole.

Dr. Patrick Connor performed the surgery on Wednesday, November 22nd at Charlotte Surgery Center.

Hamlin’s successful shoulder surgery comes less than a week after Chase Elliott revealed he had undergone a shoulder surgery in the off-season, for “an old injury that I needed to get tended to.”

Both Elliott (No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports) and Hamlin (No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing) will be ready to begin the 2024 season at the LA Memorial Coliseum in early February for the Busch Light Clash.
