Sheldon Creed, a second-year driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Richard Childress Racing, will not return to his post in the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2024 season, the organization announced on Wednesday.

“Sheldon Creed will not be returning as driver of the No. 2 Whelen Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024,” the social media statement from RCR reads. “We will make an announcement regarding the driver of the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet in the near future.

The 26-year-old driver is currently in the midst of his second full season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro. Over the last two years, Creed has recorded a career-best runner-up finish on five separate occasions, most recently at Daytona International Speedway in August.

This season, Creed qualified for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs by virtue of his points position, and has since advanced into the ‘Round of 8’, which will begin with Saturday’s event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Additional details regarding the new driver of the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet will be made in the near future, according to Richard Childress Racing. That driver will join regular season champion Austin Hill as the team’s Xfinity Series lineup for 2024.
